SANTA CLARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–SunCentral today announced it will install 36 SunBeamers at the Westfield Santa Anita shopping center in Arcadia, California to distribute natural sunlight throughout the enclosed three-story mall.

The SunBeamer 500 brings full-spectrum sunlight to previously inaccessible interiors of buildings without requiring any significant altering of building design. Using optical components to automatically track and redirect natural sunlight hundreds of feet within buildings, the SunBeamer produces a stationary collimated beam of light that can be controlled to suit individual building needs. Users also have full-control remote access to the SunBeamer through a mobile app, allowing for easy calibration, monitoring and repositioning.

“Because they are so versatile, SunBeamers are a perfect way for malls like Westfield to update their interior design using something as simple and stunning as beams of natural sunlight,” said Guthrie Cox, CEO of SunCentral. “The unobtrusive nature of the installation requires no major changes to the structure, making it an ideal option for anyone wanting to refresh the interior of a building.”

SunCentral’s installation of the SunBeamers is part of a multi-million dollar revitalization project at Westfield Santa Anita to create a more sophisticated and premium shopping experience. The SunBeamers provide the mall with a new high-performance building element that keeps the newly added living elements, such as trees and water features, alive and thriving while limiting the heat gain associated with traditional skylights. The SunBeamers block over 55 percent of solar heat energy from entering the building, providing sunlight where needed without significant solar heat gain.

“We already have a beautiful outdoor promenade, but we were looking for a way to bring some of that natural open-air beauty inside that mirrored the feel of modern outdoor shopping malls,” said Ramon Oseguera, General Manager of Westfield Santa Anita. “SunCentral provides the perfect option for us to mimic the feel of the outdoors without losing any of the comfort of being indoors.”
